Prince Perry the amigurumi frog lives in a small pond, has freckles and always wears his golden crown. The PDF crochet pattern with written instructions, step by step photos and charts is available in my Etsy and Ravelry pages. Now you can make your own Frog Prince!

There is a question I am often asked: what are the steps from the idea to the crochet toy? There is not an answer that is valid for all the designers nor for all the designs but I tried to sum up my steps while I was creating this frog (I shared them on Instagram during the whole month), here they are:

1 / Everything starts with a rough drawing… doodling with pens and pencils in search of a cute character and interesting shapes. Always keeping in mind that I will have to crochet it!
2 / It’s crochet time! A series of single crochet stitches to reproduce the shapes I designed and imagined. For the peculiar parts (like eyes and legs) it took a couple of trial and error to get to the perfect shape. Mathematics is the key.
3 / Sewing all the pieces together requires attention and above all patience. It is important to position all the pieces with sewing pins and adjust their position before sewing them in place. Stitch by stitch the frog comes to life.
4 / Perry the frog is ready to enjoy his best life in a little pond!
